यह सौरमंडल के आठ ग्रहों में सूर्य से दूरी के आधार पर सातवां सबसे दूर ग्रह है, व्यास के आधार पर यह सौर मण्डल का तीसरा बड़ा और द्रव्यमान के आधार पर चौथा बड़ा ग्रह है।

आपकी यह जानकर बेहद ही हैरानी होगी कि अरुण पर 42 साल तक रात और 42 साल तक दिन होता है। इसका कारण यह है कि अरुण पर दोनों में से एक पोल यानी ध्रुव्र लगस्तार 42 साल तक सूर्य के सामने और दूसरा अंधकार में होता है।

जहां पृथ्वी का महज एकही चंद्रमा है, वहीं यूरेनस के कुल 27 प्राकृतिक उपग्रह यानी चंद्रमा हैं। हालांकि इनमें से अधिकतर चंद्रमा बहुत ही छोटे और असंतुलित हैं इनका भार बहुत ही कम है।
