Or
Computer is an electronic device that takes data/input and processes it according to the given instructions and gives information/output.
Or
Computer is use to convert meaning less or raw data into meaningful information. It is known as computer.

Characteristics/Features of Computers:

1.      Speed: It perform the task as Electrical circuits/pules. A powerful computer can perform 3 to 4 million operations in just one second.
Previous time computer speed measured in:
Milliseconds (MS)                  -              10-6
Nanoseconds (NS)                 -              10-9
Picoseconds (PS)                    -              10-12

Today the processing speed of Computer is generally measured in MHz (Mega Hertz) or GHz (Giga Hertz).
2.      Accuracy: Computer is always provide the accurate results to the user if entered data or instructions is wrong or has more than one meaning, it gives wrong result. This process of instructions is termed as “Garbage in Garbage out” (GIGO). Precise – Accuracy to particular step follow to evaluate the task.
3.      Versatility: Versatility means the ability to perform variety of tasks at a time.
4.      Diligence: Means the Capacity to work continuously with same efficiency.
5.      High Reliability: Computer have very low failure state than human being have computers are machine not human being so they never get tired and bored on.
6.      Storage: A Computer system has very high storage capability device called memory.
Primary Memory: To store the currently used data, instructions & information.
Secondary Memory: Provides option to attach additional memory.

Disadvantages/Limitations of Computers:

1.      No Feelings: Computer has no feelings. It has no heart or soul and is free from emotions. So it cannot make judgments on the basis of feeling, taste and experience.
2.      Precise Instruction Set: It cannot solve a problem it self until precise steps to solve that problem are not specified. Any confusing/doubt meaning instruction will confuse computer and may result to wrong output.

3.      No Intelligency: It has no intelligency of its own. It simply follows the instructions that is provided by the user and according to instruction performed the task.
