Nature of Solute and Solvent

Solid Solute: solid solute get dissolved in solvent which has comparatively similar intermolecular interactions i.e. “like dissolves like”

For example, Ionic solid such as NaCl dissolved readily in a polar solvent like water whereas covalent solid such as naphthalene, anthracene dissolve readily in non-polar solvents like benzene, ether, CCl₄ etc.
